Sunlight is Good for Your Sperm

sunlight sperm quality A study on 340 men found that vitamin D, produced by the body when exposed to sunlight, improves thequality of sperm.

They swim better towards the egg, have greater speed and more penetrative.
Researchers at the University of Copenhagen tested the sperm quality of 300 randomly selected men and conducted a further analysis on samples from 40 men in the laboratory.
At the same time, levels of vitamin D in their blood were measured. Nearly half have inadequate number-related to a lack exposure to natural sunlight.
Sunlight is the main source of vitamin D which helps regulate levels of calcium and phosphorous to generate healthy bones.
Besides that, the number of healthy sperm in men with inadequate vitamin D is lower than those with normal levels. The ability to absorb calcium is also inhibited.
The findings, which are published in the Human Reproduction journal, supports previous research linking vitamin D with sperm production and may explain why many couples seem to get pregnant while on vacation.
Researchers found nearly half of the participants have an inadequate number of vitamin D, below 50 nmol / l. Optimal levels recommended by most experts is at least 75 nmol / l.
Chemical process needed to fertilize eggs, known as the acrosome reaction is also inhibited. Tests conducted in the laboratory also produced similar findings.
“Vitamin D levels are positively related to sperm motility, which indicates the role of vitamin D in human sperm function,” said Dr. Martin Blomberg Jensen, according to the DailyMail.
